Tilney Smith & Williamson appoints Partner to build US / UK transatlantic tax team

Tilney Smith & Williamson, the leading wealth management and professional services group, has announced the appointment of Adam Smith as a Partner in its professional services business with a remit to build a new US / UK transatlantic tax team at the firm.

Adam is a dual qualified US and UK tax adviser specialising in advising US-connected individuals and businesses in all aspects of cross-border US and UK tax issues. He joins Tilney Smith & Williamson from Blick Rothenberg where he was a Partner for three years. Prior to that Adam co-founded Westleton Drake during which time he headed-up the firm’s Entrepreneurial Private Client team and latterly the International Private Client Practice. He has a history of advising American citizens resident in the UK, US business owners in the UK and the US, and is a specialist in matrimonial tax planning; often acting as a single joint expert in financial remedy proceedings where US citizens or US assets are involved.

Tilney, which merged with Smith & Williamson to create a new wealth management and professional services group in September 2020, has more than 20 years’ experience looking after US-connected clients and is registered with the US Securities & Exchange Commission. It can provide a full range of discretionary investment services to individuals, trusts and companies. The creation of the new transatlantic tax team under Adam Smith’s leadership will enable the firm to provide an integrated tax and wealth management service with dual expert client teams.
